Deviation decision
Deviation requires a special reason related to the use of the plot or area. A deviation decision may be granted for special reasons, allowing an exception to building regulations and planning restrictions in detailed plan areas, master plan areas, and unplanned shoreline areas. The special reason must be related to the use of the plot or building. For example, if a deviation improves the living or operating environment, safety, enhances services, more efficient use of the building, or traffic conditions compared to construction according to regulations, applying for a deviation decision is justified.
Changing vacation home into permanent settlement
Changing purposed use of a vacation home to a permanent settlement can be applied for through a building permit. Depending on the location, you might need a deviation decision or a placement agreement before applying for a building permit.
In planned areas with designated building plots, changing a vacation home into a permanent residence usually requires an alteration of plan, unless the current plan already allows changing the purposed use.
