Student welfare within the primary and lower secondary education includes taking care of the students’ physical, mental and social well-being.

Student welfare shall primarily be implemented as a preventive and collective student welfare supporting the whole school community. Multiprofessional cooperation is a key issue in student welfare.

Student welfare is implemented in cooperation with the Local Education Department and the Social and Health Services. Individual student welfare is implemented in cooperation with the student and the person who has custody of the student, taking into account the student’s age and conditions. If necessary, cooperation is also made with other partners. Student welfare work is guided by confidentiality, respectful attitude towards the pupil and the person who has custody of the pupil along with supporting their participation and involvement.
