Pre-primary education

Pre-primary education refers to activities in order to support each child’s learning, participation and involvement, development and growth for the purpose of strengthening the child’s self-esteem, providing positive learning experiences and opportunities for versatile interaction with other children of the same age.

The scope of statutory pre-primary education organised by the municipality is at least 700 hours per year, in other words about four hours a day. The term in pre-primary education largely complies with school working and holiday times.

Pre-primary education is free of charge. Any supplementary early childhood education and care which is possibly necessary in addition to pre-primary education is chargeable.
