Services in accordance with the Act on Disability Services and Assistance
In accordance with the Act on Disability Services and Assistance, the services and support measures included in the special responsibility for organising services consist of transport services, personal assistance, daily activities, sheltered housing, housing modifications, tools, equipment and devices that belong to the dwelling. Other services and support measures stated in this Act belong to the common responsibility for organising, in other words, these services and support measures will be organised within the limits of the appropriations.
Coping and managing of a person with disabilities and of a chronically ill person is supported through disability services. These services also enhance conditions for a person with disabilities to live with others as an equal member of society. At the same time, these services strive for removing disadvantages and obstacles caused by disability.
Services and financial support measures based on the Act on Disability Services and Assistance can be applied for through the year (continuous period for applications). The applicant’s income and wealth will not be taken into account when granting services, but the basis is always any disadvantage caused by a disability or long-term illness. Decisions complying with the Act on Disability Services and Assistance will be made by a social worker/social counsellor.
