eDesk -learning environment

A NEW GENERATION E-LEARNING ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPED IN KUUSAMO FINLAND

eDesk Kuusamo is a development project financed by ERDF, Oulu Provincial Office and Kuusamo town. The project is carried out by experts of Kuusamo town and Pedamate Ltd, a part of Snap Group Ltd.

The aim is to develop a new internet based service to support learning and network interaction. eDesk activates its users into multichannel social activity in the learning process.

The service is developed in co-operation with Pedamate and primary schools of Tolpanniemi, Käylä and Törmänen in Kuusamo town. The service will be internationally published on March 31st 2010.

eDesk service consists of core tools of electronic media needed in teaching and learning.

The aim of eDesk is to make you free from interface dependance and to bring needed cost effectiveness to school ICT investments.



Developers
Central roles in creating and defining the pedagogical idea and functional properties definition of eDesk have been carried out by Kimmo Huttu and Kari Peuna, two primary school teachers from Kuusamo. Both have worked for a long time developing distance learning in Kuusamo schools. Kimmo and Kari have gathered motivating experience in Kero eSchool project, which was granted a national elearning quality reward by the Finnish National Board of Education in 2005.

Pedamate's web and flex solution developers are bringing the eDesk vision to a concrete level. Their references consist of Nokia, Sony Pictures, Electronic Arts, MTV3, VTT and Siemens among others.

Sumo Paint, Pedamate's latest internet based image editing software has already gathered more than one million users in more than 190 countries. The unique SUMO Paint is the best reference of Pedamate's competence.
